French Class |
| French class is offered most terms on Thursday afternoons in the Aloha classroom. It is geared to beginners and advanced beginners 4 years old and up (adults are welcome as students and/or to be with their children). French speakers of any level are especially welcome! My teaching style is informal. I like to incorporate student requests into my lesson plan where I can. I immerse my students by speaking only French as much as possible. We practice greetings, sing French songs and play games in French, learn a wide variety of vocabulary, verb phrases, and small sentences, and try to keep it as fun as possible. |

Writing Group |
|
Writing group allows our children the opportunity to express themselves through written language. Anyone who can listen attentively is welcome. The child may write in any format or on any topic she/he chooses. Presentations often include fictional stories, autobiographical tales, book reports, poetry, history and science reports. Some children write independently, others dictate their work and some are somewhere in between. Usually the author will read his/her story to the group. If the child is unable (or simply not ready) to read his work, the group leader will be happy to present the work. The younger ones are often inspired by listening to the work of the older kids. Sharing stories is an age old tradition of fun. |
